La Recyclerie

Nüba

This rooftop club at La Cité de la Mode et du Design adds another layer of excitement to the site that already houses Wanderlust. The vast rooftop terrace offers a superb panoramic view over the surrounding quays, and an almost exotic atmosphere with a wooden DJ booth like a beach hut playing chillout world music, deckchairs, big communal tables and a table football set. Come here at dawn on a summer's day, and you'll be sure to see groups of clubbers staggering out into the daylight.

Les Ombres

Situated on the top floor of the Musée du Quai Branly, its terrace has a full-on view of the EIffel Tower, which would be reason enough to come to this glass-and-iron restaurant, were it not for the new chef Jean-François Oyon's food which is all the more reason to indulge in a chic, elegant dinner with a beautiful view of the city.

Le Petit Bain

Not so much a terrace here as an upper deck, this arts centre has been afloat at the foot of the National Library (BNF) since 2010 when it joined the flotilla of cool riverboat venues moored in the 13th. The coveted terrace doubles as a bar, restaurant and octopus gardener’s paradise, decked out with myriad aquatic plants. The venue regularly hosts live music in a range of genres, from minimalist Norweigan pop and indie folk to rock and jazz. It's eclectic enough to match Le Petit Bain’s architecture: designed by the Encore Heureux collective, it looks like a fluorescent green barge topped by a cubist wooden tree house.

Le Perchoir

An extremely popular new rooftop bar in Menilmontant with a 360 degree view of the capital. A vast space surrounding an amazing bar with comfortable sofas with cushions, furniture made out of wood and colourful plants and scented herbs planted in pots around the seats or hung from railings. Sipping on a glass of wine while watching the sunset over the Sacré-Coeur under garlands of coloured lights, really is something special.

Bateau El Alamein

Moored next to the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (BNF) in a modern suburban area, this charming purple péniche is a real breath of fresh air. On the terrace, a café springs up in summer amid the plants – a great place to get a suntan, too. But this boat also has a lot going on inside: a superb event space with an eclectic programme that ranges from jazz to French chanson via rock and theatrical performance. Definitely worth a stopover.
