Photo exhibition of Médecins du Monde: Le Poids des Maux

February 16th to March 18, 2017

"Some call for rejection, exclusion, but we know that the future will not be forged in violence, even if the temptation is sometimes great to retreat to protect itself. Yet the facts are there, and in more than 20 centers today, Médecins du Monde welcomes and treats more than 70,000 patients every year, without papers, without a home or just for many, even if it is only For a time, without money. In the photographs she shows here, the photographer Valérie Jouve blurs the tracks very accurately, showing us four characters in the city, of which it is not known whether their situation is precarious or not, to remind us of the fineness of the barriers, and that whoever one day has tilted, is not, in every sense of the term, far from us.

From penetrating eyes of Alberto Garcia-Alix's models, to the undocumented and ageless teenagers, half-grave and half-smiling Cédric Gerbehaye, passing by the daily life of Sara, a small Romanian nomad who wants to see life in pink, The reality takes shape. Associated with the giant portraits of Denis Rouvre, a soundtrack suggests the testimonies of those not listened to , adding to the resonance of this expo, to the airs of salutary blow of punch.

Abraham Poincheval

From 03 february to 08 May 2017 - During his solo performances, Abraham Poincheval pushes back his physical and mental limits. For him, life in autarky, enclosure, immobility or the progressive loss of senses are all means to explore human nature.

As with the giant bottle, inside which Abraham Poincheval is going up the river Rhône against its current, the exhibition will bring together several habitations in which, or on which, he has lived for several days.
Alongside these habitations, two performances lasting several days, and which have been specially conceived by the artist for his show at Palais de Tokyo, are presented. While testing out the artist’s body, they will lead him to experience the temporalities of the animal and mineral worlds. This show comes after the presentation of his habitable sculpture Ours (‘‘Bear’’) as part of the group exhibition “Inside” in 2014, and his performance Vigie / Stylite (“Lookout / Stylite”) as part of the Nuit blanche 2016, under the artistic direction of Palais de Tokyo.
